James Rudolph Rankin, 79, 715 E. Thompson, died Friday at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Monday at Owen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. T. Howard Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Rankin was born in McAlester on Jan 21, 1912, and moved to Sapulpa shortly thereafter. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 523 and a warehouseman for the Carnation Milk Co. Mr. Rankin was a veteran of World War II, earning five Bronze Stars for service in French Morocco, Sicily, northern France at Normandy and the German Campaign.

His first wife, Ethel, preceded him in death in 1978. He married his present wife, Belva Baker Rankin, in Las Vegas on Nov 11, 1978.

Survivors include wife Belva; son Jim Rankin of Sapulpa; stepsons Charlie Rankin of Sapulpa and Eugene Rankin of Eclectic, Ala; daughter Wanda Rankin Hill of Sapulpa; brothers Charlie Rankin of El Cajon, Calif., and Harold Rankin of Tucson, Ariz.; sister Reba Barton of El Cajon, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will headquarter at 715 E. Thompson.

Funeral services for James R. Rankin were held today at Owen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. T. Howard Allen officiating.

Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Garden.

Casketbearers were Jack Henson, Harold Dixon, Jack Myrick, Frank Proctor, Monty Keigley and Jess Keigley. Honorary bearers were Terry Lytle, James DeGraffenreid, Randy Rankin and Shawn Rankin.

Mr. Rankin and his wife, Belva, were married Nov 11, 1978, in San Diego, Calif.
