Joseph W. Raymond, 77, of Bunker Hill, Ill. Died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995 in Santa Cruz, Calif. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary Thiessen will officiate. Interment will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens with Smith Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements. 

Raymond was reared in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed at Fort Ord. While at Fort Ord, he met and married his wife of 53 years, Pauline Johnston Raymond. 

After leaving the service, Raymond returned to Illinois where he worked for Standard Oil Co. He returned to California in 1960 settling in Los Gatos and later moving to Santa Cruz. 

He worked for Safeway and he retired as produce manager in 1977.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Debby Matthews of Santa Cruz and Inis Glenos of South Lake Tahoe; a sister Nellie Hunt of Oregon; two brothers, Walter Raymond and Toy Raymond, both of Illinois; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

Services for Joseph William Raymond, Santa Cruz, Calif., were held today in the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Thessen officiating. Burial was in South Heights Cemetery. 

Casket bearers were Don Johnston, Glenn Johnston, Ron Johnston, Shelby Yocham, David Glenos and Denny Matthews. 

Mr. Raymond died Oct. 15 in Santa Cruz. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
