ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Former Sapulpa pastor Rev. J. Glore Reneau, died Saturday in an Albuquerque hospital following a long illness.
Memorial services are scheduled for 5 pm Sunday at the Central United Methodist Church, Albuquerque, with Dr. William W. Hutchinson, Bishop Alsie Carlton and Rev. Jim Hawk officiating.
Cremation of the body has taken place.
He was born Feb 7, 1905, in Indian Territory (Tulsa) and graduated from Oklahoma City University and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Boston University School of Theology. He was a chaplain (Lt. Col. Ret.) In the U.S. Army during World War II and served two years in Europe. While on duty, he earned a Ph.D degree from Webster University.
Dr. Reneau served churches in Ponca City, Ada and Sapulpa as well as Raton, Farmington and Albuquerque, N.M. He retired in 1972 from St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. He also taught the Harmony Sunday School Class at Central Church for 16 years.
Survivors include wife Esther Chilson; sons Lt. Col. Ret. Robert D. Reneau of Fayetteville, N.C. and James C. Reneau of Albuquerque; sister Fyrn Fenn of Tulsa; brother James D. Reneau of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
