DICK RUHL

Funeral services were held today for Sapulpa native Dick Ruhl, 64, at the
Richland Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas.
He was born in Sapulpa in 1926, and moved to Los Angeles in 1941, where he
became an animator for Walt Disney Studios. He drew characters such as Donald
Duck and Mickey Mouse during Disney's famed "golden age" and retired
in 1960. He worked on cartoon commercials for several firms including a Tulsa
dairy and General Mills and taught animation classes. He was preceded in death
by sister Thelma McDaniel, brother Kenneth Ruhl, and parents Lucille and John
Ruhl.
Survivors include wife Evelyn; sons Donald Ruhl of Louisville, Ky., Rayburn Ruhl
of Splendora, Texas; daughter Susan Mayfield of Tulsa; brother Jack Ruhl of
Joplin, Mo.; sister Dorothy Bennett of Tulsa; and three grandchildren.
