Thomas A. Sanders, 63, Succumbs To Injuries Received Early Christmas Morning.

The Rev. Mrs. Hattie Newman of the Markham community officiated at funeral services held Monday at the Silver City church for Thomas A. (Tom) Sanders, age 63, who succumbed Sunday (New Years Day) of injuries sustained early Christmas morning in an automobile accident on State Highway 33 just south of Oilton.

Interment was made in Brooks cemetery.  Stubblefield funeral directors were in charge.

Mr. Sanders, a farmer in the Silver City community for a long period of years, was fatally hurt while walking down the highway about 3 a.m. when he was struck by an automobile which two Oilton boys, Ellis Childers and Herman Williams, were riding.  The boys were returning home from Tulsa.

He suffered among other injuries a badly mangled right arm which was amputated in the Oklahoma City hospital where he died.  Immediately after the accident first aid was given Mr. Sanders in a Drumright hospital.  He was sent on to Oklahoma City from here.  Childers and Williams were absolved of blame by investigating officers.

A native of Illinois, Mr. Sanders was born in Johnson county on March 27, 1875.  He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Mollie (Robinson) Sanders, and 12 children, seven of the home address, two in California, two in Sand Springs and one in Tulsa.

He also leaves five brothers, John and Lindsey Sanders of Seminole, Bryon of Cordell, Richard of Sherman, Texas, and Latimore Sanders of OIlton, and three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Ellis, Savoy, Texas; Mrs. Arkadelphia Parnell, Esteline, Texas, and Mrs. Russia Null, Oilton.
