Funeral Service for O. R. Shaffer To Be Tomorrow 

Sapulpan Known As Dean Of State Oil Scouts Dies of Heart Attack 

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the First Presbyterian Church for O. R. Shaffer, age 63, pioneer Sapulpan, known as the dean of Oklahoma oil scouts, who died at 2:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the city hospital of a heart ailment. He was stricken with a heart attack at Enid, February 2, and last week taken from his home here to the hospital following a second attack. 

Shaffer a Sapulpa resident for more than 25 years a former city commissioner, civic leader, member of the Presbyterian church and an oil man, was employed by The Texas Company. He served the oil company as oil scout most of the time since 1918, except for a brief period when he worked as a lease man. 

He was born in Enterprise, PA. Jan 5, 1875, lived in Ohio and Kansas at various times, and for a short period worked for the Sapulpa Refining Company. 

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hariette Shaffer; three sons, Howard R. and John R. of Lockport, Ill., and Frank B. of the home address; two brothers, Charles of Findlay, O., [sic] and Marshall Shaffer of McPherson, Kan. 

Rev. C. D. Todd, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate at the services. Burial will be made in South Heights Cemetery. Lewis and Landrith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Pall bearers for the services will be Don Vickers, Curt Edgerton, D. C. Hamilton, Don McMasters, Ross Eakin and R. A. Woolridge.
