A Sapulpa man died late Sunday or early Monday of an apparent heroin overdose, according to police.

The report indicated the body of James Walter Slemp, 38, was found at his apartment at 105 S. Watchorn by his girlfriend about 8:10 am Monday.

The woman, Kimberlen Gale Smith, 30, told officers Slemp returned to his apartment between 9 and 10 pm Sunday with heroin and syringes after watching a football game.

Smith reported Slemp gave himself a heroin injection and went to bed a few minutes later.

She was unable to revive him when she awoke Monday, according to the report.

Slemp's body was taken to Tulsa for autopsy by the state medical examiner's office.
