Kathleen Smith Dies Wednesday
Mrs. Kathleen Ruby Smith, 51, of 624 S. Walnut, was found dead late
Wednesday afternoon at the home of her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Cumbey, 1402
E. 62nd St., Tulsa.
Officials said a hose had been hooked to a car exhaust and extended
through a window and the engine turned on. A note was found.
Mrs. Smith was the widow of Richard E. Smith, who with their son,
Richard Dean Smith, was drowned in a fishing mishap at Lake Sahoma in
1959.
She had lived in this area all her life and was employed as a nurses
aid at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa.
Survivors are a son, Gary, 704 S. Walnut; a daughter, Mrs. Wilma
Hart, 624 S. Walnut; her mother, Mrs. Cumbey; four grandchildren; three
brothers, Noel Cumbey, Pineville, Okla.; June Cumbey, Rt. 1, Mounds,
Okla.; Jack Cumbey, San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Edna Herring, Rt.
2 Mounds.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Ridgeway Baptist church
with the Rev. Ray Wells officiating. Interment will be in South Heights
Cemetery under direction of Owen Funeral Home.
