Joseph Orville Smith, 72, of Sapulpa, died today at Hillcrest Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday at Owen Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

He was born Jan 16, 1921, in Beggs to Joe Richard and Fannie Smith. A longtime resident of Sapulpa, he married Mary Frances Patterson on Oct 5, 1956, in Bartlesville. Smith was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army after serving during World War II. He was a machinist with Murdock Machine and Engineering Division of Lockheed in Irving, Texas, where he retired after 20 years. He was a member of Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; brother, Floyd Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will headquarter at the family home.

Casket bearers will be Richard Reeder, Herbert Whiteman, John Rivett, Sam Rivett, Ricki Hopkins and Tony Hopkins.

Smith, a longtime area resident, died Wednesday at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.
