Mrs. Ruth Steincamp, 83, of Sapulpa died Wednesday.

Services are scheduled for 10 am Friday at Green Hills Mausoleum Chapel with Russell Casey officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

She was born July 3, 1904, in Ripley, Okla., and was married April 9, 1920 to Ben William Steincamp. She was an artist and teacher.

She attended The Ringing School of Art and studied under Fredrick Taubes, Harry Hearsey, Lewis Fruind, Art Jacobson, May Allen Schupbach and Hayward Veal.

She taught at Okmulgee Tech and was sponsored by Okmulgee Art Guild, Philbrook Art Center and Brooks Paint Shop. She participated in one-man shows at Philbrook, Tulsa, in 1952; Church of Tomorrow, Oklahoma City, in 1958; and three local shows sponsored by the Business and Professional Women in 1963-64.

Her work was exhibited in New York; St. Joseph, MO; San Antonio, Texas; Santa Fe, NM; Oklahoma City; the Conservative Show; the Oklahoma city State Show and the Tulsa State Show. Her work also is represented in collections at the Tulsa City-County Library; Bartlett Memorial Medical Center, Joseph Clinic; and First National Bank of Tulsa.

She was national biennial art chairman for the National League of American Pen Women, Inc., Tulsa; a judge for Henryetta Art Show; and civic chairman for the Business and Professional Women's Club. Mrs. Steincamp was president of the Associated Artists at Philbrook Center, Tulsa; president Associated Artists at Philbrook Museum, Tulsa; past president of the American Legion Auxiliary; and member of the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Bartlett Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary.

Mrs.Steincamp received numerous honors, including honorable mention for a water color, "Shadybrook," in 1952 at Philbrook Art Center and first prize for "Catacombs of Pairs", at the 1955 Associated Artists Exhibit for the Tulsa Philharmonic Society, Inc. She received two prizes, picture of the month and first prize for "White Sail" at The Lolipop Tree, Art Guild in Oklahoma City, in 1959; and received two awards from Ruskin Rental Gallery, Philbrook, in 1958 and 1961.

Survivors include daughter Mary Christena Batchelder of Sapulpa; son Samuel Ben Steincamp of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family has requested donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or the First Christian Church.
