Medicine Lodge, Barber County, Kansas

Kelly Swayden, 77, died August 16, 1998, at his ranch east of Medicine
Lodge.

He was born July 18, 1921, at Oilton, Oklahoma, the son of Rasheed and
Juria Mady Swayden. A Medicine Lodge resident since May of 1951, coming
from Longdale, Oklahoma, he was a rancher. He served with the U.S. Army
during WWII.

He belonged to the American Legion and the VFW, both in Medicine Lodge.

Survivors include: a son, Richard L. Swayden and his wife, Betty Jo,
Medicine Lodge; a daughter, Janetta Freeman and her husband, Eddie L.,
Pratt; three brothers, LeRoy Swayden, Medicine Lodge, Bobby G. Swayden,
Amarillo, Texas, and George Jr. Swayden, Isabel; three sisters, Florene
Wilkins, Tommie Lou Swayden, and Margaret Johnston, all of Amarillo, Texas;
and two granddaughters, Kelli Jo and Kasey Swayden, Medicine Lodge.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 18, 1998, at United Methodist
Church, Medicine Lodge, with Rev. Jim Godbey presiding. Burial was in 
Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Memorials may be sent to United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge Memorial
Hospital or Pratt Regional Medical Center, all in care of Larrison-Forsyth
Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
