ELMORE CITY - Guyton Lessly Turner, 84, of Elmore City, died Monday at Pauls Valley.

Funeral services were held at 11 am today at the United Methodist Church of Elmore City with Rev. Robert Majors officiating.

Burial followed at Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

He was born Nov 17, 1908, in Garvin County. He attended Pauls Valley High School and East Central State Teachers College. Turner served during World War II in the 90th Infantry Division under General George Patton. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Bronze Arrowhead Army of Operations Medal and the European Theater of Operations ribbon with five stars. He was also a 42nd degree Mason and retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

He lived in Sapulpa before moving to Elmore City.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth; son, Guy Turner of Mustang; brother, Frank Turner of Tucumcari, N.M.; and four grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Joe Turner, Benny Turner, William Turner, Culley Turner, Lonnie Sechrest, Gary Whittes and Charles Whittes.
