Iva Edna Uptegraft
October 21, 1906 - July 9, 2001 

Graveside services for Iva E.Uptegraft, 94, of Locust Grove, were held Thursday, July 12, 2001, at 10am in Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow. Elder Bert Gage officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Uptegraft was born October 21, 1906, in Kellyville, Indian Territory, to Sam and Victoria (Smith) James. She grew up and attended school in the Stroud area, and later married Virgil Farris on July 31, 1925 in Cushing. From 1938-1950 she operated her own beauty shop in Collinsville, where she was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She moved to Tulsa in 1950 and married Charles L. Uptegraft on August 2, 1958, in Wichita, KS. She came to the Locust Grove area after her retirement in the early 1970's. She enjoyed music and loved playing the organ. She was of the Baptist faith.

She passed from this life on Monday, July 9, 2001, in Locust Grove. She is survived by three daughters, Jeanne Bridges of Broken Arrow, Sammye Tyer of Irving, TX, Shirley and husband W.J. Morrison of Tulsa; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents, her first husband Virgil, second husband Charles, 13 brothers and sisters, a granddaughter, Kathy, and great-granddaughter, Melissa.
