Edgar Harlan VanMeter, 75, 116 W. Bryan, died Sunday at Bartlett Memorial
Medical Center.
Services will be 10 am Wednesday at South Heights Assembly of God with the Rev.
Gary Thiessen officiating.
Committal services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hazel Valley Cemetery, Hazel
Valley, Ark., under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. VanMeter was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Holdenville, and lived in Sapulpa 58
years. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and was employed as a butcher
for Safeway until his retirement. He was a member of South Heights Assembly of
God.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, in 1986.
Survivors include wife, Geneva; sons Nathaniel VanMeter of Summer. Ark. and
Chester VanMeter of Sapulpa; daughters Reba Nation and Harla Hardin, both of
Sapulpa; brothers Bill VanMeter of Texas and Sam VanMeter of Colorado; sisters
Mary Shepherd and Oma Pullen, both of Colorado, and June Gailin of Missouri; 10
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will headquarter at the Hardin residence, 604 S. Adams, the day of
the service.

Funeral services for Harlan VanMeter were held today at South Heights Assembly
of God with the Rev. Gary Thiessen officiating.
Burial followed at Hazel Valley Cemetery, Hazel Valley, Ark., under the
direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Casketbearers were Mr. VanMeter's grandsons, Randy Nation, Keith Nation, Keith
Brandon, Mike Haefner, Craig Ware and Joey Brown.
Mr. Van Meter, a resident of Sapulpa for the past 58 years, died Sunday at
Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.
