Sherman Vann, 76, died Saturday at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Friday, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church
with Rev. Stacey L. Cole officiating.
Burial will follow at North Heights
Cemetery under direction of Jack's Memory Chapel.
He was born March 3, 1916 in Wagoner, to Simon and Beatrice Vann. The family
later moved to Sapulpa where he attended Booker T. Washington School. He was a
member of the Snowden Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sapulpa.
He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Vann was also an employee of Armoco Steel
Company before his retirement in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Beatrice Vann; his sister
Pearl Vann; son, Sherman; and step-son, Rondie.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Mae Lee Vann; sons, Bobby of Tulsa, Vincent
of Denver, Colo., Kevin, Don, Gene, Mike and Glen of Sapulpa, and Carl of Los
Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Thelma, of California, Tina of Tulsa and April of
Sapulpa; step-sons, Billy of Tulsa, and Ed of Bristow; step-daughters, Willa Mae
and Gwenda Joyce of Sapulpa, and Duckie of Slick; grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
