Mrs. Hope Welpton Dies At 66
Mrs. Hope S. Welpton, 66, Kellyville, died Wednesday night in St.
Francis Hospital, Tulsa.
She was the wife of Kellyville school superintendent John Welpton and
had retired in 1972 as Woodlawn fourth grade teacher. Prior to that she
taught English and Spanish at Kiefer and Kellyville.
Born March 3, 1907, in Lovell, Indian Territory, she had lived in
Kellyville 38 years. She was a graduate of Guthrie High School, held a
bachelor's degree from Central State University and master's from
Oklahoma State.
She was a member of the Kellyville Methodist church, Delta Kappa
Gamma, Sapulpa's Nancy Green Chapter, Daughters of the American
Revolution; Driftwood Garden Club, Radiant Chapter, Eastern Star; alumni
associations of CSU and OSU, American Association of University Women,
state and national chapters of the retired teachers association, and
Alpha Psi Chapter, Kappa Kappa Iota.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, John S. Welpton,
Zweibruken, Germany; two daughters, Mrs. Juana Welpton Federick,
Phoenix, Ariz., and Miss Mary Anne Welpton, Arlington Heights, Ill.; 4
grandchildren David and Stephen Fredrick and Stephanie and Katrina
Welpton; a brother, Mark Stephens, Cairo, W.Va. and sister, Mrs. Della
Clark, Marshall, Okla.
