Richard Whalin, 64, of Sapulpa, died Saturday at the Veterans Administration hospital in Muskogee.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, at Westside Free Will Baptist Church and 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Community Church in Peggs with the Rev. Millard McGuire officiating.

Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery in Peggs under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

He was born April 23, 1928, in Hulbert, lived in Sapulpa 18 year and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Joyce Hood on Nov. 26, 1952, in Tulsa, and was employed as a salesman. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Cushing Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; sons, Rick Whalin of Houston; Danny Whalin of Newkirk, and Randy Whalin of Tulsa; daughter, Janie Thompson of Sapulpa; sister, Mrs. Floyd Byrd of Tulsa; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services for Richard Whalin were held at Westside Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Millard McGuire officiating.

Following the services in Sapulpa, a funeral was held at the Peggs Community Church in Peggs, Okla.

Burial followed at New Home Cemetery, Peggs, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Full military rites were accorded at the committal service.

Casketbearers in Sapulpa were Tom Whalin, Steve Collison, Ercel Robinson, Robbie Robinson, Oran Hanks and Ed Stockard.

In Peggs the casketbearers were Gene Applegate, Time Applegate, Tom Applegate, Dee Palmer, Dean Bird and Elmer Keeton.

Whalin, a Saupulpa resident for 18 years, died Saturday at the Veterans Hospital in Muskogee.
