Bobby Wheeler, 61, of Sapulpa and formerly of Okmulgee County died Saturday.
He graduated from Preston High School in 1959 and from Central State College at Edmond in 1962. He received his Masters Degree from Texas A&M in 1968. He served as a teacher, coach and administrator for six schools, including Wilson School in Okmulgee County. He held the Golden Gloves Championship title from 1959 until 1963. He also participated in rodeos, including serving as a judge.
Among survivors are five daughters, Jodi Mitcheltree of Sapulpa, Jamie McElroy of Mounds, Windy Alexander of Tulsa, Billie Jean Wright of Seminole and Bobbie Jo Vincent of Shawnee; two brothers, twin brother, Billy Wheeler of Muskogee and Jim Wheeler of Boynton and a sister, Jane Wheeler of Bixby. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Wheeler and a grandson, Bryar Wheeler.
Memorial services will be held at 10 am Friday, Oct 5, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa.
