FUNERAL FOR J. W. WILSON
Funeral services for J. W. Wilson, 60, South Hickory street, who died at five
o'clock yesterday afternoon, will be held at the Nazarene Church tomorrow
afternoon at 2:30, it was announced today. The Odd Fellows will have charge of
the rites.
The deceased is survived by his mother, three sons, Charles, Jimmie and
Arthur Wilson, two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Horn and Mrs. G. E. Jones, two brothers
and fifteen grandchildren. Several relatives are here from Indiana to attend the
funeral. Burial will be in South
Heights Cemetery.
James family wrote a "Card of Thanks" following his funeral. The
August 2, 1923 edition of the 'Sapulpa Herald' reads: "CARD OF THANKS - We
wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their acts of kindness and sympathy
during the sickness and at the death of our loved one. We also appreciate the
floral offerings and thank Mrs. Cox of the Church of God for her kind words
spoken at these services. Mrs. Annie Wilson, Mrs.
Melinda Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Wilson, J. W. Wilson, J. T. Wilson and
family, Arthur Wilson and children, James Wilson, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Jones
and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Horn and family.

James was ill for seven days prior to his death - the last four days he was
attended by Dr. Sweeney. The cause of death was Botulism, brought on by eating a
can of 'bad' meat.
