Oran Glen Zimmerman, 74, 79 W. Mockingbird Lane, died Tuesday at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Friday in Owen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Spears officiating.

Burial will be in the Pifer Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Penn.

Mr. Zimmerman was born Sep 24, 1916, in Punxsutawney, Penn., and moved to Sapulpa 28 years ago. He was retired from Denton-Easterling Ford where he was a mechanic. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church, Sapulpa.

Survivors include sons Ben Zimmerman of Tulsa, Don Zimmerman of Roselle, Ill.; brothers Earl Zimmerman of Oregon, Ohio, Ralph Zimmerman of Brookville, Penn.; sister Hazel Brubaker of North Tonawanda, New York; and four grandchildren.

The family will headquarter at 79 W. Mockingbird Lane the day of the service.

In lieu of other remembrances, the family suggest donations to the First Nazarene Church, Sapulpa.

A Sapulpa man died and two women were injured when the man's pickup raced across a parking lot, climbed over two cars and slammed into a beauty salon, according to police.

The accident report indicated a pickup driven by Oran Zimmerman, 72, 79 W. Mockingbird, was traveling eastbound from the Wal-Mart entrance on south Main.

Sgt. Rick Rumsey said Zimmerman apparently suffered a heart attack while driving.

The pickup accelerated across four lanes of traffic, struck two vehicles and destroyed the front of Class Beauty Salon, 921 N. Main, at an estimated 45 mph, the report indicated.

Fred Russell, who was cutting hair at the adjacent barber shop, said he just "happened to look up" to see Zimmerman's truck speed across the parking lot and into the building.

"He must have had a heart attack, because he made no attempt to slow down or anything." said Russell. "The farther he went, the faster he got."

Two women in the beauty salon, Belinda Roper, 31, 521 W. Bryan, the beautician; and Dee Brooner, 44, Tulsa, a customer, were taken to Bartlett Memorial Medical Center by Creek County Ambulance.

A hospital spokesperson said Roper was treated and released, while Brooner was transferred to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

A third woman in the salon, Renee Manor, escaped without injury.

"He just drove right through the front of the building," Manor said. "It kind of happened in slow motion."

Manor's car, a gray Pontiac Grand Prix, was not as lucky. The vehicle was crushed by Zimmerman's pickup, sustaining an estimated $8,000 damage.

"I think (the car) probably saved us from something worse," Manor said.

Police estimate damage to the building at $6,000. Roper, who owns the salon, said she expects to reopen the building "in a couple of weeks."
