Creek Oil Pioneer Dies at Sapulpa
SAPULPA. Aug. 1.- H. U. Bartlett, 68 years old, a leader
in the development of Creek county oil fields and a pioneer
Oklahoman, died at his home here Saturday.
After settling at Pawnee in 1893, he
organized a contracting farm that built the first Pawnee county courthouse.
In 1905 he moved to Mannford. Five years later following
discovery of the Cushing oil field, he became active in
development of fields near Bristow, Oilton, Drumright, Mannford
and Sapulpa. He leaves his wife and six sons.

Additional information:
The hospital, first known as Sapulpa
City Hospital, was built in 1921. In 1957, the H.U. and Eva Maud
Bartlett Foundation purchased the hospital and implemented rapid
expansion to meet the community's growing needs. The facility
was renamed St. John Sapulpa in 2000.
