SCENE OF GUN FIGHT
Pair Are Said to Have
Started to Shoot Up Town
SAPULPA June 8.—(Special) A pitched
battle between Sheriff E. A. Livingston and a posse of
deputies and two men; Bev and Fred Bowman raged for several
hours at Kellyville, near here today. The trouble started when
the Bowmans are said to have started to shoot up the town after
disarming the city marshal, who attempted to stop the alleged
disturbance. On the appearance of the sheriff's force the men
took to the brush, having obtained high powered rifles. They
were surrounded in a creek bottom about a mile from the town,
but escaped because of the thickness of the underbrush.
One of the men, Bev Bowman; is thought
to have been Wounded, a trail of blood having been found near
the spot where the men were seen last. None of the sheriff's
force was injured.
