Robert James Cates, age 67, was born October 27, 1942 in Bixby, Okla. He died July 6, 2010 in Tulsa, Okla.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years Judy Cates of the home; daughter Kim McKelvey and husband, Larry of Glenpool, Okla.; stepchildren Gary Estes and wife, Mindy of Sapulpa, Okla., Nikki Tucker and husband, Tad of Sapulpa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Sonny Cates and wife, Jo of Oregon; sisters, Charlene Floyd of Glenpool, Helen Cote and husband, Paul of Tulsa, Frances Garrett and husband, Charles of Porum, Okla.; and mother-in-law Etta Teeter of Sapulpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Edna Cates; his daughter, Anita Hemphill; and his sisters, Brenda and Susie Cates.

He was a retired escort driver.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home - Westwood Chapel in Tulsa. Officiating will be the Reverend Deloris Dunn. The final resting place will be the Rosencutter Cemetery in Tulsa.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home - Westwood Chapel in Tulsa.
