Joe Denton Jr., of Lubbock TX, born May 24, 1907 in Sapulpa , and spent his early years in Tulsa. In 1940, he moved his family to Lubbock TX, and was active in the drilling business for a number of years. He became an independent oil operator, and in the late 1950s, he founded a natural gas extraction business from which he retired in the late 1960s.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor C. Denton of Lubbock; a daughter, Nancy D. Kerr of OKC; son, Joseph G. Denton of Dallas TX; brother, John C. Denton of Prairie Village KS; grandchildren, Shelley Kerr and Carolyn Kerr of OKC, J. Mike Kerr of NYC, Suzanne Denton of Waco TX, Kelly Denton and Jennifer Denton, both of Dallas.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Oct. 28, at 2pm, at Memorial Park in Tulsa. Arrangements by Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. The family requests contributions to the Okla. Medical Research Foundation, OKC, in lieu of flowers.
