James Edward Snider, born Oct. 9, 1930 in Sapulpa , graduated Sapulpa High School in 1949. At the onset of the Korean War, James enlisted in the US Navy in Sept. 1950 and served 2 tours of combat duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer and was honorably discharged in July 1954.

In May 1957, James was selected to attend the Okla. Highway Patrol Academy. Held rank of Trooper, Supervisor & Lieutenant, commanding 3 turnpikes. Later served as Director of Vehicle Inspection Div. until promoted to Captain, and retired from this position in June 1990. He then made his home in Grove, Ok. James was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason of Sapulpa Lodge 170. He attended Independent Bible Baptist Church in Grove.

Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Greenhill Funeral Home, Sapulpa , Ok.
