William
(Bill) D. Southard passed away January 18,2011 at his home in
Sapulpa. Bill, aka "Rollo" was born August 13,1940 in Cushing,
Oklahoma to Dempse & Helen Southard. The Southard family moved
to Sapulpa in August of 1953 and purchased an auto parts store
on the comer of Water and Lee Streets. Bill worked in the family
business, Bill & Demsey's Auto Parts until the store closed in
1988. Bill then went to work for J & E Auto Parts until he
retired due to health problems. Bill or "Rollo" as he was known
in Sapulpa High School was an avid fan of drag racing and in his
younger days and was known to give the Sapulpa Police a good
race in his red 59 chevy.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Southard, sister,
Sue Coonce, niece Rhonda & Jim Williams, nephews, Ron & Debbie
Coonce of Sapulpa and Chuck and Eileen Coonce of Catoosa. Also,
many great nieces & nephews, aunt, Beverly Southard of Tulsa and
his wonderful and caring extended family at Burgers "n" More.
Bill was an icon at the Burgers "n" More and spent every
afternoon visiting with his many friends and customers that
stopped at his table to chat.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dempse and Helen
Southard. Family visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2011
from 6 p.m. till 8: 30 p.m. Funeral services will be January 21,
2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Smith's Funeral Chapel, with interment to
follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Sapulpa, OK. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or
the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, OK.
