Iris June Johnston Widger went to be
with the Lord on Sept. 15, 2004. She was born Feb. 27, 1951 in
Sapulpa to Johnny J. Johnston and Velma June Bruton who have
preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children; daughters Phyllicia and her
husband Larry Courtney, of Okmulgee, daughter Veronica Deramus
and Ken Schroeder, of Branson Mo.; son Johnathan Wayne Carlock,
of Branson, Mo.; sisters LaNelle and her husband Terry Cue,
Suzie Capers, of Houston, Texas; brother Kirk Johnston, of
Houston; nephew Ben Cue; niece Jenni Cue; great-nephew little
Ben; nine beloved grandchildren, Jesse Dean Courtney, Victoria
June Deramus, Phillip-Alan Wayne Courtney, Allicia Marie Deramus,
Taylor Morgan Carlock Roberts, Devyn JuNelle Courtney, Dalton
Wayne Carlock, Nathan Asher Carlock Roberts, and Alec Schroeder.
Iris graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1969. She attended
OSU School of Nursing. After nursing school she worked at
Bartlett Memorial Emergency Center and City of Faith hospital.
She enjoyed helping people and felt she was called by the Lord
into the nursing field.
She belonged to the Bibleway Family Worship Center and was a
member of the Praise and Worship team. She was a frequent
soloist and always accompanied by her nephew Ben and often
singing with her daughter Phyllicia. She was loved by family and
friends and will be greatly missed. Praising the Lord and loving
her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Bibleway
Family Worship Center, 702 W. Dewey. The Revs. Richard and Lynn
King will be officiating. The family has entrusted the care of
the services to Smith Funeral Home.
