Ruel Armstrong, 81, of Sapulpa passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at
Clarehouse, Tulsa, Okla. He was born on September 1, 1929 in Stringtown,
Okla. to Thomas and Stella (Ingram) Armstrong. He was an auto mechanic. He
also served in Korea with the U.S. Marines.
He got married to Margie Danderson on July 5, 1950 in Atoka, Okla. they were
married for 54 years. He loved gardening, hunting, going to the horse races,
he was an outdoors man and he also loved to play Yatzee with his
grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Armstrong; and parents, Thomas
and Stella (Ingram) Armstrong.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Oldenburg of Oklahoma City;
grandchildren, Casey Oldenburg of Stillwater, Okla., Forrest Oldenburg of
the home, Jeremiah Armstrong of Dothan, Ala., Rebecca Armstrong of
Enterprise, Ala., and Rachel Armstrong-Chase of Hawaii.; and six great-garandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the
Smith Funeral Chapel, Sapulpa. Officiating will be the Reverend Craig
Gibson. Interment to follow at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sheriffs Fraternal, Creek County
Sheriffs FOP Lodge #213, Clarehouse or Freedom Hospice.
