Lucille Cole was born on August 2, 1917 in Yale, Okla. to Nelson
M. and Thelma Irene (Stratton) Boyles and passed from this life
on June 5, 2010 at the age of 92.
She was one of 12 children, seven of which preceded her in
death. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Paul
M. Sikes; her second husband, Earl W. Cole; and her daughter,
Paulette Reed; parents, Nelson M. and Thelma Boyles.
Virginia is survived by her son and his wife, Paul and Marilyn
Sikes; son-in-law, Ronnie Reed; grandchildren, Jennifer Reed
Poole and her husband, Tracy Poole; David Reed; Susan
Sikes-Carey and her husband, Dale A. Carey, and Joseph Sikes;
great-grandchildren, Erin Reed, Raegan Poole, Emma Sikes, and
Hannah Sikes. Virginia is also survived by her brothers and
sisters, Mel Henry and her husband Skeeter, Clifford Boyles and
his wife Fonda; Lois Furgason and her husband June, and Norma
Brown and a host of extended family and friends.
Virginia was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and was a
retired school teacher of 36 years in the Sapulpa area.
She was an active member of the Oklahoma
Retired Teachers Association. She was a very active member of
Faith Baptist Church of Sapulpa and prior to that, she was an
active member of First Baptist Church of Sapulpa.
She was a great mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will
be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 2
p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 7100 E. Oklahoma 117, Sapulpa.
Officiating will be the Reverend Jack Carner. Final interment at
Green Hill Memorial
Gardens, Sapulpa.
Services are being provided by Smith Funeral Home.
