Charles Hayden Gibson

Memorial services held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday,Ju1y 30, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Drumright for Charles Hayden Gibson. His son, the Rev. Jimmie Don Gibson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Shawnee officiated along with pastor of the Drumright First Baptist Church, Dr. Gary Smith. His other son. Michael Gibson provided the service prelude on the church organ and special music was provided by Mr. Gibson's grandson, Aaron James.

A private family interment of Mr. Gibson’s cremains was held prior to the memorial service in the Drumright Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael's Funeral Home of Drumright.

Charles Hayden Gibson was born in Prairie Grove, Ark., on June 8, 1927 to the late J .D. Gibson and Ruth (Clayton) Gibson.

He died at his residence on July 27 , 2005 at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 19 days. In 1936, his family moved from Arkansas to Drumright where he received the rest of his education.

He joined the United States Navy in 1945 and served during WWII. On August 23, 1947, he married Kathleen E. Hartline ín Drumright and they remained together until his death. He had received his later education at AM. Junior College in Miami, Okla. and also OSU in Stillwater. He had been a rancher for 35 years, an American General Insurance agent and was a former County commissioner for Creek County. While, county commissioner, he was instrumental in organizing the Drumright Senior Citizens Center. He was also a long time member of the Drumright First Baptist Church serving as treasurer for many years and also as a deacon. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family and was a loving husband and father.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother: Otto Gibson and a grandson: Jaye: Donavan Gibson in 1990.

His remaining family includes his wife of 58 years; Kathleen Gibson of Drumright; children: Jimmie Don' Gibson and wife Joyce of Shawnee; Selena Marie Patterson and husband James of Texas; Charles Michael. Gibson and wife Margaret of Sapulpa; grandchildren:` Joshua Aaron Gibson, Jessica Noelle James and hueband Aaron;  Jamie Marie Patterson; Clayton Reed: Gibson; Michael Alexander Gibson; two sisters: Clara' Louise Petty and husband LeRoy; Addie Bell Watson. Also six nieces and six nephews and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
