Ronald L. “Butch” Hardzog Sr. was born July 6, 1940 in Elgin, Okla. to Raymond and LaHoma (Roberts) Hardzog. He graduated from Elgin Schools in 1959. After high school, Ronald worked at the family owned business in Porter Hill. In 1983, he went to work for Comanche County where he retired after working over 20 years. After retirement, “Butch” enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching his grandson play baseball. He was a Shriner, a Mason, and a member of the Cowboy Church of Apache. Ronald was a life long member of the Porter Hill Fire Department and donated land for new additions to the station.

Mr. Hardzog passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in Lawton.

He is survived by his son, Ronald Hardzog, Jr., and his wife Stacy of Sapulpa; daughter, Ryshell Schrader and her husband Steve of Colorado; brother, Carl Hardzog and his wife Sharon of Elgin; and four grandchildren, Joseph and Cassie Hardzog and Carlee and Rocky Schrader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and LaHoma Hardzog and one brother, Dale Hardzog.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Cowboy Church of Apache with Pastors Larry Thoma and Paul Lutz officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Elgin Cemetery under the direction of the Elgin Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Elgin Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cowboy Church of Apache or the Porter Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
