Wilbert Johnson passed away at the age of 62 on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wilbert was born on December 8, 1947 to Albert Sr. and Minnie (Coker) Johnson. He was a loving Father, Grandpa, Brother and Friend. He will be missed dearly.

He graduated from Olive High School in 1966 in Drumright. He went on to attend college at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. He then went to serve in the United States Marine Corp. He was an active member of Nuyaka Ceremonial Ground. He always wanted to be down there for the dances when they would have fundraisers but his health was always an issue so he wanted his family to be there for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Minnie Johnson; his wife Jeanetta (Lee) Johnson; two brothers, Ben Johnson and Nathan “Bob” Johnson; and one sister, Ella Mae Johnson.

He is survived by his two children, Cheryl and her husband Chebonnie Lindsey of Sapulpa, Okla., and Wilbert Johnson, Jr. and his wife Janet of Broken Arrow, Okla. He has six grandchildren, Kyle Lindsey, Alexes Lindsey, Megan Lindsey, Breanna Lindsey and Bryce Lindsey all of Sapulpa and Vincent Johnson of Broken Arrow; two brothers, Tom Johnson of Bristow and Albert Johnson of Kellyville; step-brother Cecil Deere of Tulsa; two sisters, Ruby Johnson and Reba McDermott, both of Bristow, Okla.

Wake service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the family’s home in Sapulpa.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 7, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the family’s home. Officiating the service will be the Nuyaka Ceremonial Ground. Bearers will be Tommy Johnson, Jr., Brien Johnson, Little Tommy Johnson III, Buddy Lindsey, Dustin Cloud and Kenneth Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Kyle Lindsey, Bryce Lindsey, Rayce Noah and Aaron Osceola.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa.
