Couple celebrates 50 years
Chester “Bud” and Loretta LaBuz will
celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss with a party on Saturday, Jul
30 beginning at 6 p.m. at George Horn Memorial Hall, 3310 East
15'” Tulsa.
The couple was married 50 years ago in the
Drumright home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fincher. the bride’s
parents, in an 8 pm, evening ceremony. Officiating at the
ceremony was the Rev. Sadie Fincher. great aunt of the bride.
The bride wore a waltz length dress of white
nylon taffeta fashioned a long torso bodice and matching bolero
jacket. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. Chester and
Loretta met at a square dance that she organized when she was a
student at Draughon's School of Business
in Tulsa.
The couple continues to be avid square dancers,
traveling the state to dance and often times running into
Drumright-area square dancers. They also serve as co presidents
of the Rushing Stars, a square dancing group that meets every
Tuesday afternoon at Henthorne Community Center in Tulsa.
Loretta
was a graduate of Drumright High School and attended. Draughon's
Business College. Chester graduated in Elmira, New York and from
Morisville Agricultural and Technical College. He then began
working at American Airlines and retired in 1993 after 42 years
of service. Loretta is now a homemaker.
After their marriage. they lived in Tulsa where
they still reside to date.
The couple has two children and four
grandchildren: son Larry and wife Beth and daughter Laurie and
husband Larry Swarer, also of Tulsa; grandchildren Misty LaBuz,
Van Buren AR, Eric and Stacey Wieburg, Greenwood, AR and Tiffany
French and husband Nick of Graland, Texas.
All friends and
family are invited to attend the wedding anniversary celebration
of the LaBuzes.
