The graveside service for Ellen Beatrice Miles, 91 year-old
former Enid resident will be Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:00AM in the
Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev. Keith Miller will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Ellen was born July 18, 1920 in Canadian, Texas to Viola and Roy Wyckoff. She
went to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior on December 15, 2011 from
Forrest Manor Nursing home in Dewey, OK. where she resided with her husband
Delbert.
At an early age her family moved to Moreland, OK. area where she received her
early education. Her family later settled in Enid, OK. where she graduated from
Enid High School in 1938. Ellen continued her education at Enid St. Mary’s
School of Nursing. Upon completion, she was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital and
Enid State School. Ellen had one sibling, her beloved brother Gene Wyckoff. She
married Gene’s best buddy Delbert (Deb) Miles in Enid, OK. in 1942.
The family moved around the southern states during WWII following Deb’s Army Air
Corps assignments. After the war, husband Deb was called to the Christian
ministry. Ellen ardently supported her husband in Baptist Church pastorates from
Broomfield, CO. to Oklahoma towns of Olustee, Chattanooga, Enid,
Sapulpa and
Holdenville. Ellen worked for some twenty years as a J.C. Penny’s associate and
was later employed by Hallmark Co. All her life Ellen had a passionate love of
reading which she passed on to her son. In 2000 Ellen and Deb moved to
Bartlesville, OK. to be near her son and daughter-in-law. In April of 2011 they
began residing in Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey, OK.
Our beloved Ellen, wife and Mother, will be remembered for the unfading beauty
of a gentle and quiet spirit which is of great worth in God’s site. 1Peter 3:3,
4.
Survivors include: Husband Delbert , son Gary and wife Sandra, Sisters-in-law
Betty Gary and Marceil Penny, a very close cousin, LuAnn Allen and husband Jerry
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and Roy Wycoff, step-father
Howard Blue, and brother Gene Wyckoff.
