Olivia
Rose “Ya Ya” Miller, 8, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2010, after a long
and courageous fight with a degenerative neuromuscular disease. Olivia was born
on September 21, 2001 in Tulsa, Okla. She lived her entire life in Sapulpa,
Okla. where she attended the special needs class at Freedom Elementary School.
Olivia absolutely loved the time she spent at Freedom and all her friends there.
She also loved her principal, teachers and the entire staff at Freedom. The love
shown to Olivia at Freedom was endless.
Olivia attended South Park Bible Church in Sapulpa where she was taught the
absolute truth of the Bible. Olivia loved Bible doctrine and understood God’s
plan for her life. She endured great hardships and challenges in her life with
unbelievable grace.
Olivia’s favorite color was pink. She was only sad at the end of the day when
sun went down and it was bedtime, but she was thrilled each and every morning to
see the sun rise again and thanked God for it. Despite her disabilities and
declining condition, Olivia loved every day and lived each one to the fullest.
Olivia’s life is an awesome testimony to the power of God and her life is great
evidence of the blessings from God for those who overcome.
Everyone who knew Olivia was touched by her warm and friendly personality. She
splashed a little “Sonshine” everywhere she went. When Olivia was 5, she was
sent to Disney World by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma. Many, many
wonderful memories remain from the time spent with the Princesses in Florida.
Olivia talked of her trip to see Blues Clues and the Princesses until the end of
her life. For this reason, the family has asked that donations be made to the
Make-A- Wish Foundation of Oklahoma in lieu of flowers.
Olivia was a wonderful sister to Isaac, and blessed her
parents Jeff and Becky beyond words. She is also survived by her grandparents
David and Sara Campbell of Sapulpa, and Juanita Miller of Tulsa.
Olivia was preceded in death by her brother Jacob Samuel and her paternal
grandfather Derle Miller of Tulsa.
The funeral service for Olivia will be Tuesday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at the Church
of the Nazarene in Sapulpa. Pallbearers will be Hank Johnson, Mark Day, Ricky
Martin, and Bob Lyon. Olivia has been entrusted to the care of Smith Funeral
Home in Sapulpa.
