Lee Phillips, age 81, of Cushing died on Aug. 1, 2005 at the
Cushing Hospital, Cushing. Funeral services were held Wednesday,
Aug. 3, 2005 at the First Freewill Baptist Church, Cushing. Rev.
]ohn Baumert officiated.
Phillips was born on Oct. 29, 1923 in Coalton, to Joseph Floyd
and Mary Elizabeth (Whitfield) Dunagan. She grew up in Okmulgee
County and graduated from Okmulgee High School class of 1941.
She began working at the Automotive Inc, in-Okmulgee in the
parts department. She married Howard Phillips on July 7, 1945,
in Okmulgee. They moved to Cushing in 1952 where she worked for
Montgomery Wards for a few years. She later worked ąt the
Cushing Regional Hospital for 14 years as PBX operator,
admitting clerk and in the insurance department. Phillips was an
active member of the Nazarene
Church, where she served as church secretary/ treasurer for a
number of years. She was a member of the. Womens Auxiliary for
the Civil Defense and Police a number of years and liked to sew
for her children. Phillips enjoyed being at the farm and was a
selfless person who put her families needs in front of her own.
Survivors include her husband Howard Phillips of 60 years; sons
Howard C. Phillips Jr., Cushing, Joseph D. Phillips and wife
Gina, Tulsa; daughters Nancy Lee Hawes, Bartlesville, Julia Ann
Howser and husband Brad, Cushing; grandchildren Michelle Moles,
Brian Hawes, Amanda Phillips, Trey Phillips, Nikki Morris,
Kristen Phillips, Zachary Howser, Colby Howser, and Emily
Howser;
great grandchildren Josh Moles, Courtney Moles, Sylvia Morris,
Megan and Caleb Hawes, and Chelsea Collins.
Services are entrusted to the Palmer and Marler
Funeral Home, Cushing. |
