Funeral services for Faye Reaves, 89, of Yale were held Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Yale. Rev. Steve Lopp and Brother Michael Dershem officiated. Interment followed at the Lawson Cemetery North of Yale.
Reaves was born Dec. 19, 1915 on a farm north of Ripley to Mr. and Mrs. Noah Phillips. She went to grade school in Ripley. She moved to a farm near Glencoe where she went to a country school (Eureka), graduating in 1935. She married-Orville Reaves in
1935.
She traveled with her husband, who was employed in the oil business and moved often following the oilfield. They lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois and Texas. She returned to Ripley when her husband went off to war. She served as the Assistant Post Master until her husband returned from the war. They lived in Cushing and moved to Yale in 1966.
They were in business in Yale and managed the Parkview Café, Betty’s Fashions, the Varsity Store and the Dairy Hut.
ssssShe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yale, where she was active in Sunday school and the W.M.U. She served as church clerk for several years and had to retire due to her health. _
Survivors include sisters Kerr of Morrison and Betty Ivy and husband Dick of Yale; daughter in-law Sherrill Reaves, Cushing: granddaughter Tonya Barker, _ Cushing; grandson Carl Goble, Cushing; great daughter Taylor Coble, Cushing; and great grandson Corey Barker, Cushing.
Reaves was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, son Terry Reaves and brother Wayneî Phillips.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer and Marler Funeral Home of Yale.
