Maybelle Latham Smith was born December 12, 1941 in
Tehachapi, California to Walter and Dora (Cree) Latham. She passed away on
Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at her home in Bristow, Oklahoma at the age of 69
years, 1 month, and 15 days.On
February 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Charles Ray Smith and to
this marriage, one child was born, Johnny Ray Smith. Maybelle worked as a
hairdresser in the Bristow area for over 35 years. She loved playing cards
and games with her friends and family, anything pertaining to Elvis,
listening to country music, and spending time at the lake. She especially
loved spending time with her grandkids, which were the light of her world.
She enjoyed staying up all night playing, Skipbo and Farkle with them. She
will be most remembered for her willingness to help anyone in need.
Maybelle is survived by her mother,
Dora Latham; one son, Johnny Ray Smith and his wife, Michelle; two
grandchildren, Kaylee May Smith and Cody Ray Smith all of Bristow; two
brothers, Donald Latham of Sapulpa and Ronald Latham of Bristow; three
sisters, Janice Lemons of Sapulpa, Clara Wolfe of Oakhurst, and Tammy
Matlock of Bristow; two very special sister-in-laws, Becky Latham and Lori
Jeffries; one special brother-in-law, Jimmy Wolfe along with numerous
nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Maybelle will be greatly
missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her
father, Walter Latham; one brother, Roy Albert Latham; one niece, Darla
Plum; and one nephew, Mitchell Plum.
Funeral services will be 2pm,
Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Bristow Christian Center with Reverend Wayne
Gemmill officiating. Interment will follow in
Bristow City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.
