McALESTER — Louise Tohkubbi, 95, formerly of Wardville,
died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, in Sapulpa.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Harper’s Valley
Cemetery, Kiowa, with the Rev. James Crowson officiating. Burial will be at the
Harper’s Valley Cemetery under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of
McAlester.
She was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Crossett, Ark., to Walter and Ella (Lawler)
Roberts. She moved to southeast Oklahoma as a young child. She married Alex
Tohkubbi on July 6, 1936. They made McAlester their home where they raised four
children. She worked as a nurse’s aide providing nursing home care, home health
care and hospital care. Later, she moved to Wardville and enjoyed the retirement
years gardening and canning. She was an active member with the Kiowa Senior
Citizens.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Tohkubbi and wife, Cheryl, of Smartsville,
Calif., Charles Tohkubbi and wife, Beth, of Kellyville and Wayne Tohkubbi and
wife, Loretta, of McAlester; sister, Gladys Lemons, of Sapulpa; nine
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other
family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ella Roberts; husband, Alex
Tohkubbi; daughter, Carol McNeal; two brothers, and three sisters. |
