GLADEWATER, Texas—Former Sapulpan
LeRoy Adams, 65, died Saturday at a Gladewater
hospital after a sudden illness.
Services were today at the First Baptist Church of Gladewater
with the Revs. Nick Sholars, Ron Byrd and Guy Pry officiating.
Burial was at Gladewater Memorial Park under the direction of
Stone-Goodwin Funeral Home.
Mr. Adams was born Jan 26, 1925 in Hugo. He served in the U.S.
Navy during World War II. He was vice president of Texas Federal
Savings and Loan for 27 years before moving to Gladewater six
years ago.
He was a Gladewater city council member and a member of the East
Texas Council of Governments. He was president-elect of the
Gladewater Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, a member of
the Board of Directors of the Ellen Bauman Senior Citizens
Center and a member of the First United Methodist Church,
Gladewater.
While living in Sapulpa, Mr. Adams served as the Master of the
Sapulpa Masonic Lodge #170 and was a patron of the Radiant
Chapter #294 of the Order of Eastern Star.
He was also a Demolay and Rainbow Dad.
He also served as director of Creek County Civil Defense and was
First Aid Director of the American Red Cross of Tulsa.
Survivors include wife Jo; mother Mable Adams of Dallas;
daughters Diana Formby of Austin, Texas and Dephene LaRoche of
Lancaster, Calif.; sister Mary Vestal of Richardson, Texas;
brother Charles Adams of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
