 AMERICAN VETERAN  

 

Lew Roy Akins went to be with Jesus Christ, His Savior on the 4th of December, 2015 following a brief illness. Lew was a long time resident of Mounds Oklahoma coming there in 1936 with his family Glenn, Alice and Amye Akins from Tonkawa, Okla. Lew graduated from Mounds High School in 1948 and enlisted in the Navy Seabees during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Mounds in 1956 and continued to raise cattle and farm alongside his father as well as work full time for FiberCast in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. After 40 years he retired from FiberCast in 1996 and continued to farm for several more years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Sapulpa and enjoyed going to flea markets in and around Sands Springs. He is survived by one sister, Amye Dickerson, brother-in-law, Harold Dickerson of Oklahoma City, OK, niece, Deborah Thompson of Oklahoma City, niece Nina Morrow of Redmond, California and nephew Bryce St Cyr of Henderson, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa Oklahoma. . He was preceded in death by Glenn and Alice Akins of Mounds, OK; one younger sister, Anna Dell Wagoner of Long Beach, CA; and two nephews, Harold Dickerson of Del City, OK; and Bruce St. Cyr of Rosemond, CA.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Green Hill Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled from 8 am - 8 pm Wednesday. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. www.greenhillok.com
