Funeral services for Judge Raymond Naifeh, District Judge of the
Seventh Judicial District are slated for 2:00 PM
Tuesday at Metro Church, I-35 at Second Street. Interment will
follow at Gracelawn Cemetery. Judge Naifeh died Saturday
afternoon in an Oklahoma City hospital. Baggerley Funeral Home,
Edmond, is in charge of the arrangements. Judge Naifeh was born
in Sapulpa , OK, March 27, 1932, the son of Alex and Almas
Naifeh. He attended and graduated the Sapulpa school system,
graduated Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science
Degree and received his law degree at the Tulsa University. The
Judge also attended the National Judicial College at Reno,
Nevada. Judge Naifeh worked as a private practice attorney,
Assistant State Attorney General and Assistant District Attorney
for both Oklahoma and Tulsa Counties prior to his appointment by
Gov. David Hall to the position of Associate District Judge on
Dec. 1, 1973. He held that position for 2 years when he was
elevated to District Judge . Judge Naifeh was the presiding
District Judge of the Seventh Judicial District in 1985. He was
a Past President of the Oklahoma Judicial Conference and served
on that Conferences Legislative Committee. Naifeh was named as
the States Outstanding Trial Judge by the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers
Association. He was a member of the American, Oklahoma and
Oklahoma County Bar
Associations, the Downtown Oklahoma City YMCA, where he served
on the Board of Directors, was a member of the Men's Dinner Club
and Metro Church. Judge Naifeh is survived by his wife,
Ernestine; their son, Bill Naifeh; daughters, Susan Gayle
Naifeh, Ernestine Carol Shires and Mary Naifeh; also a
granddaughter, Charise Naifeh; as well as 2 brothers, Woodrow
and Monroe Naifeh and 1 sister, Virginia Naifeh. The family has
requested memorial contributions to the Raymond Naifeh Memorial
Fund, whi ch was created to fund a law school scholarship and to
further the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in care of the First
National Bank of Edmond, 24 East First Street, Edmond, OK 73034.
Judge Naifeh will lie in state at the funeral home until 12:00
Tues. at which time the casket will be closed.
