Cornelius H. Bentley, was born in Illinois on December 9, 1875 and passed away July 12, 1962 at the Mooreland hospital. He was 86 years, 7 months, and 3 days of age.
He came to Missouri with his parents in 1878 and in 1884 the family moved to Arkansas where he grew to manhood.
On November 11, 1901, he was united in marriage to Stella West at Dennard, Arkansas. Eleven children were born to this union, three whom preceded their father in death.
The Bentley family moved to Oklahoma in 1921 and lived a number a years in the Webb community, moving to Vici in 1943, where Mr. Bentley spent the remainder of his life.
He loved music and passed many happy hours with his violin and enjoying the music of others. He was a friend to all people and happiest when he could help those in need of a friend.
He was the last surviving member of his father's family and was preceded in death by two daughters, Esther Bentley and Mrs. Hester Oliver and one son, Cecil O. Bentley.
He is survived by his wife, Stella, of the home in Vici; six daughter and two sons, Ethel Lopshire of Arcata, California; Etta M. Stoddard of Eureka, California; Margaret A. Loesch of Booker, Texas; Grace Jane Morgan of Bald Knob, Arkansas; Lena A. Baldwin of Dodge City, Kansas; Julia B. Wedge of Pomona, California; George O. Bentley of Vici; and Wilber O. Bentley of Camargo, Oklahoma; 37 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services were Monday, July 16 at Shaw Memorial Chapel. Rev. W. O. boomer officiated. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery with Shaw Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
