OBITUARY - DANIEL HIXON
Daniel Earl Hixson was born September 9, 1911 at Shattuck, Oklahoma and passed from this life on June 20, 1994 at Seiling, Oklahoma. He was the fifth of thirteen children born to Herman Tom and Rebecca Asalee Hixson.
Daniel grew to manhood at Peek, Oklahoma. His brother, Herman, described him as "that tall good looking cowboy who married the charming school teacher," Mary Ellen Stout on April 30, 1935 at Arnett, Oklahoma. A daughter, Della, and a son, Olier, were born to this happy union.
During this lifetime, Daniel had been a cattleman, a dairyman, a trucker, and a shoe repairman. He enjoyed ranching in his beloved sand hills Or Ellis County. The area of Harmon, Oklahoma always remained home to him in his heart. When he found that the groceries became a bit "thin" while ranching, he changed his occupation to that of dairyman and operated a dairy for a few years. He later gave this up in favor of herding a cattle truck and transported livestock from the various cattle sales of the area for many years. For over the past 20 years, Daniel has owned and operated a shoe repair shop in Seiling, Oklahoma.
Daniel had accepted Christ as his saviour. He loved the Lord and always tried to live a life that was pleasing to God.
Music was a favorite passtime with Daniel. He loved listening to it as well as strumming along on his guitar. Communication with loved ones on audio tape was also a special enjoyment.
Daniels's children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Not only was he proud of them and enjoyed having them near, but he would be especially attentive to keeping them, as well as other family members, informed about one another.
Daniel was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived y his beloved wife, Mary Ellen of the home in Seiling; by his daughter, Della Creach of Bixby, Okahoma; his son, Oliver Hixson of Harmon, Oklahoma; by 8 grandchildren - Craig Murphy, Kristie Nicholas, Angie Hixson, Kathy Hixson, Karen Randel, Kay Watson, DeWayne Hixson; 3 great grandsons, Stuart and Tyler Randel and Dylan Nicholas; by 4 brothers - Pearl of Vici, Homer and Prince of Yale, Oklahoma and Paul Denzie of Goddard, Kansas; by 2 sisters - Verna Poage of Woodward and Claire DuBoise of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and by other dear relatives and many friends.
Services were held Thursday, June 23, 1994 at the Church of the Nazarene in Harmon, Oklahoma, with Steve Vaughan, pastor, officiating. Interment was in DeBolt Cemetery in Arnett, Oklahoma.

OBITUARY - MARY HIXSON
Mary Ellen Stout Hixson was born to Joseph and Kate Ann Stout near Okeene, Oklahoma on September 27, 1912. She passed from this life while in the hospital at Seiling, Oklahoma on September 19, 1997. She had attained 84 years, 11 months, and 22 days of age at the time of her passing.
At the age of 10, she moved with her family to a farm near Gage, Oklahoma. She completed high school at Gage and then attained her teaching certificate. She first attended Oklahoma University where she was made a member of the honorary freshman society of Alpha Lambda Delta. She then taught school a number of years before re-entering college to complete her degree. At the age of 50, Mary enrolled in Oklahoma State University and graduated Phi Kappa Phi with a bachelor's degree in the top 5% of her class. She taught in a number of schools during her career including Englewood, Kansas; Booker, Texas and the Oklahoma towns of Harmon, Taloga, Woodward, Fairview, and Enid. During her teaching career, she received several teaching grants and was able to further her education at the University in Mexico City, Mexico, the University of Arkansas and Women's University in Denton, Texas.
Mary and Daniel E. Hixson were united in marriage on April 30, 1935. A daughter, Della, and a son, Oliver, were born to this union. Mary's husband and children were foremost in her life and though she pursued her teaching career, she always kept her family closely tied. Her interests of education, learning, and reading were shared with her husband and children additionally, she was a talented writer and has shared some of life's experiences with her family through her writings.
Mary has been preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel, her parents and her three brothers - Ty, Guy, and Jarvis Stout. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Della and Wally Creach of Bixby, Oklahoma; her son and daughter-in-law, Oliver and Arleen Hixson of Harmon, Oklahoma; by six granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 3 grandson-in-laws, 7 great grandchildren, her sister, Ruby Ruscigno of San Jose, California; by a number of nieces and nephews and other beloved relatives.
Services were hold at the Harmon church of the Nazarene on Monday, September 22, 1997. Officiating was Rev. Ken Campbell, pastor of the Harmon Church of the Nazarene. Interment was at the DeBolt Cemetery at Arnett, Oklahoma. Arrangements were made by Shaw Funeral Home.
