Rites Held for Storm Victims Here Last Week

Mrs. Adah Malloy - Last rites for Mrs. Adah Malloy were conducted at the Leedey Methodist church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, with Rev. J. M. Combs, pastor, in charge, assisted by Rev. S. Frank Wheeler of Erick.
Mrs. Malloy was one of the pioneers here, coming to Leedey when it was young as a town, and this had been her home continuously ever since. She is survived by her husband, four sons, and one daughter, 9 grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A daughter preceded her in death. Burial was at New Herman.

Adah Grace Malloy was born in Louisville, Kentucky, November 2, 1885 and died at Leedey, Oklahoma, May 31, 1947 at the age of 61 years, 6 months, and 28 days.

She was married to D. A. Malloy, October 18, 1900. To this union six children were born. A daughter died in infancy and four sons and one daughter remain to mourn her passing. They are: Lloyd of Covington, Wayne of Hollis, Arlie of Medford, Neil J. of Elk City, and Mrs. Gladys Foster of Leedey. There are also nine grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was an active member of the Leedey Methodist church.

Though we know she's at rest With the pure and the blest, Still we miss her sweet presence each day.

***Adah Malloy was one of the victims of the Leedey Tornado which tore thru the town on May 31, 1947.

Obituary

Daniel Albertus Malloy was born April 30, 1876 at Linn County, Missouri and died in the Clinton hospital at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 1951, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 10 days.
He had been in ill health many months but was seriously ill only about a week.

Funeral services were held at the Leedey Methodist church at 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, with the pastor, Rev. V. V. Voss in charge.
Interment was in New Herman cemetery.

Mr. Malloy came to Oklahoma while he was a small child. He lived at Perkins, in the eastern part of the state, until 1905, when he moved to Ellis county.

He was married to Miss Ada Grace Allington in 1900 at Lyons, Kansas. Six children were born to this union, four sons and two daughters, all of whom survive, except a daughter, Gila, who died in infancy. The others are: Lloyd of Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Gladys Foster of Skellytown, Texas; Wayne of Hollis; Arlie of Pryor; and Neil of Shamrock, Texas.

Mr. Malloy with his wife and two oldest children moved to a farm 8 miles southwest of Leedey in 1912, where they resided four years, establishing a home in town in 1916. For about two years he traveled as a salesman, later doing carpentry work which was his occupation until retirement. During the past three and one half years, following Mrs. Malloy demise in 1947, he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Foster, at Skellytown.

He was a member of the Methodist church in Leedey, having placed his membership here October 12, 1925, during Rev. H. A. Stroud's pastorate.

Besides his children he leaves two brothers, Luther Malloy and John Stone both of Perkins; two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Adams of Gotebo and Mrs. Ethel Noah of Borger, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

A kind and loving father, a quiet friendly neighbor who always was ready to help his fellow man, and a God-fearing follower of the principles of the Christian religion, he will be missed by all who knew him.
