Company H, 15th Regiment Arkansas Infantry

Born May 10, 1842 in Washington County, Arkansas

Died October 8, 1924

Buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood and does have a military marker

William came to Indian Territory sometime before 1892.

He made his living as a farmer.

He was Presbyterian

His tombstone gives his date of birth as 1848 but the above date comes from the records of Voncille Shipley.

He was married to Kate, who is also buried at Oaklawn.  She was born in 1843 and died in 1933.

This unit, the 15th Arkansas Infantry was also designated 15th Northwest Arkansas Infantry, to avoid confusion with another 15th Arkansas Infantry.

He enlisted November 2, 1861 at Fayetteville, Arkansas
