V.B. "DAVE" MAXWELL AND FAMILY
(AUGUST 28, 1850 - JANUARY 19, 1919)
DAVE AND WIFE, MINERVA IN FRONT ROW

MINERVA ELIZABETH POSEY-MAXWELL was born on August 28, 1850 in Sullivan County, Missouri.  She died don January 19, 1919 in Stratford, Oklahoma, at the age of 68 years and 5 months.  The cause of death was probably old age, but it is uncertain.  Her obituary, written by her son-in-law, J.W. Abney, reads as follows: "She was converted at the age of 14 and attached herself to the Missionary Baptist Church, of which she remained a member till death.  She was married to V.B. Maxwell in the year of 1872.  Mrs. Maxwell was afflicted for quite awhile lung trouble.  Her husband has lost a good wife, her children have lost a good mother, and this settlement has lost a good neighbor.  Heaven has received a precious jewel.  Sis Maxwell will be missed in our church.  May the blessings of Heaven rest on the relatives.  The body was laid to rest in the family cemetery, till God shall call for it.  The funeral was conducted by the writer. ' J.W. Abney".

Both V.B. and Minerva are buried in the Abney Cemetery
