OBITUARY NOTICE - MR A. N. BROWN RITES SLATED

UNKNOWN DATE & PUBLISHER: JULY 1957: PUBLISHED IN LOCAL PAPER:

A. N. BROWN resident of Garvin County since 1910, died Tuesday at the age of 87. Brown came to Garvin County in 1910 from Texas, and lived north of Pauls Valley for three years. He moved to the Walker community in 1914 and lived there until 1941. He had made his home in Stratford for the past 16 years. Funeral Services will be at 2:30 pm Thursday at the Church of Christ in Stratford. The minister of the church, Bro. McClarin, will officiate with burial in the McGee Cemetery north of Stratford. Survivors include his wife Hattie Brown of Stratford; two daughters, Mrs C.N. Webster, of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Mrs Earl Simmons, of Stratford; two sons, Robert Brown of Stratford, and Pete Brown of Hart Texas, and 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

UNKNOWN DATE & PUBLISHER: APRIL 1959: PUBLISHED IN LOCAL PAPERS

MRS. A. N. (HATTIE) BROWN died at her home in Stratford Monday. Services will be in the Church of Christ of Stratford Wednesday at 2 pm. Mr. J. E. McClaren, minister of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born May 18, 1867 at Eggharbor, New Jersey. On December 24, 1891 she was married to Andrew Newton Brown in Huntsville, Alabama. They made their home in Texas several years before moving to Oklahoma in 1910, settling near Pauls Valley. In 1942 they moved to Stratford. Mr. Brown died July 31, 1957.

Mrs Brown joined the Church of Christ in 1919. There were five children born to the couple, two sons, Robert, Stratford; and Peat Brown, Hart Texas; and three daughters, Mrs Earl Simmons, Stratford; Mrs. C. N. Webster, Mineral Wells, Texas; and Mrs Lillie Malone, deceased. She also leaves two foster sons, Wayne Updegraff, Oklahoma City; and Willis Belz, Theadore, Alabama, 16 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren.

MRS. A. N. (HATTIE) BROWN, who would have been 92 years old next month, died Monday, April 6, 1959. Mrs. Brown was born May 18, 1867 at Eggharbor, New Jersey. On December 24, 1891 she was married to Andrew Newton Brown in Huntsville, Alabama. To this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters. The Brown's made their home in Texas several years before moving to Oklahoma in 1910. They settled on a farm north of Pauls Valley, and after 3 years they moved to Seven Shooter, where they lived eight years. They moved to Stratford in 1942 where they have made their home since. Mr. Brown preceded her in death July 31, 1957. Mrs Brown was a member of the Church of Christ. She obeyed the gospel in 1919. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 pm. at the Church of Christ. Bro. J. E. McClaren officiated at the service. Burial was made in the McGee Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Newton Webster, of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Mrs Earl Simmons, of Stratford; two sons, Pete Brown of Hart Texas, and Robert Brown of Stratford; two foster sons, Wayne Updegraff, Oklahoma City; and Bill Blez, of Theadore, Alabama, and 16 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Another Daughter Mrs Lillie Malone preceded her in death in 1944.
