WILLIAM EARL SIMMONS MAY 8, 1897 TO JUNE 19, 1985

William Earl Simmons, 88, of Stratford, died Wednesday, June 19, 1985, in Pauls Valley. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 22, at 3 pm in the Stratford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell (grandson) officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Carl Shivers. Interment will be in McGee Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Stratford. Simmons, born May 8, 1897, in McGregor, Texas, was a retired farmer who lived in the Stratford area for the past 40 years. He married Mattie Pearl Brown at Seven Shooter on April 29, 1917. He was member of the Stratford First Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Mattie, of the home; two daughters, Edith Sheppard of Pauls Valley and Evelyn Moore of Stratford; two sons, Dale Simmons of Battle Ground, Wash. and Bob Simmons of Stratford; one brother, Roy Simmons of Mobile, Ala; one sister, Nora Palmer of Pinedale, Calif; one half-sister, Dorothy West of Ardmore; 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

MATTIE SIMMONS - STRATFORD -

Services for Mattie Pearl Simmons, 95, Stratford, are 2 pm Wednesday, at the Stratford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Shivers and Rev Marvin Knox officiating. Burial follows in McGee Cemetery. Mrs. Simmons, died April 21, 1996, at Stratford. She was born August 22, 1900, at Belton, Texas, to Andrew Newton and Hattie Heidi Brown. She had lived at Stratford for most of her life. She was married to William Earl Simmons on April 29, 1917, at Seven Shooter. He preceded her in death. She was an accomplished seamstress and a charter member of the Golden Rod Extension Homemaker Group. She was member of the Stratford First Baptist Church of Stratford. She was also a member of EHG Clubs for 50 years. Survivors include: two sons, William Robert Simmons, Checotah, and Franklin Dale Simmons Vancouver, Wash; two daughters, Lena Evelyn Moore, Auburn, Wash; and Edith Pearl Sheppard, Pauls Valley; 27 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; and 35 great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford is in charge of arrangements.
