Was there a funeral home who buried C. J.
Cheatwood in 1899 in Tussy, Oklahoma?
My great grandfather was the son of Charles
Jordan "C.J." Cheatwood. His name was Thomas
Clinton Cheatwood who married Belle Speir. On the
1900 Chickasaw Nation Census someone misread Thomas
Cheatwood as Lewis Cheatwood. I have informed the
clerk's office. They had a son name Charlie Melvin
Cheatwood. He is my grandfather. Charlie Melvin
Cheatwood married Mattie Iola Goodman, Nov. 29,
1919, Lindsey, Oklahoma. They had ten children. My
father is their third child. His name is Charles
Clovis Cheatwood. My name is Sandra Kay Cheatwood
Smith.

These Cheatwood families had lived in Oklahoma
Indian Territory-1897-1925. Then they moved to
Donley County, Texas. The Mary Lane Speir Family and
the Cheatwood Families are in Dallas, Texas area,
Borger, Texas area, Joplin, Missouri, Sheridan,
California and other towns and states. Some Speir
family members are in Walter Co. Oklahoma--maybe
Cotton County, Oklahoma--I have totally forgotten
the name, I guess.
They have lived in Garvin County, Oklahoma, the
city of Foster, Oklahoma, Lindsey, and Purcell,
Oklahoma, Elmore City, Oklahoma, Pauls Valley,
Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, McClain County,
Oklahoma. Some Cheatwoods are kin somewhere down
the line and they currently live in Pottawattomie,
Maud, Oklahoma.
Is there a way you can help me find C.J.
Cheatwood's funeral information and tombstone
photo? Also, his daughter-in-law (My great
grandmother Belle Speir Cheatwood-born Feb. 1877
Missouri-died 1907 or 1908 in Oklahoma--Thomas
Clinton "T.C." Cheatwood- was her husband) may be
buried some where /near C. J. Cheatwood--maybe some
unmarked graves--We just do not know. The state of
Oklahoma has no other record on Belle Speir
Cheatwood except the 1900 Chickasaw Nation Census.
I do have a photo of her 1907 in Oklahoma. She
must have died shortly after the photo was taken of
the Cheatwood-Speir Reunion-Oklahoma.
